We acknowledge with gratitude that we live on the traditional unceded territories of the Snuneymuxw and Snaw-Naw-As First Nations.

Overview

A Primary Care Network (PCN) is a community-based network of health care professionals and clinics who plan and deliver the health care needs of a community.

Oceanside PCN is working with local clinics to help connect people to a primary care provider, either a family doctor or nurse practitioner. This includes people living in the following communities:

  • Arrowsmith Coombs County
  • Errington
  • French Creek
  • Lasqueti Island
  • Lighthouse Country
  • Nanoose Bay
  • Oceanside Rural

Find a family doctor or nurse practitioner

If you need a primary care provider, register on the Health Connect Registry to get matched with a family doctor or nurse practitioner in your community.

Access urgent or same day care

Most clinics strive to accommodate urgent needs, but appointments are not guaranteed. If you are unable to see your own primary care provider, or do not have a primary care provider, contact Oceanside Health Centre or your nearest Urgent and Primary Care Centre.

Can a pharmacist help?

Your community pharmacist may be able to assess and prescribe for some minor health issues, prov ide vaccines, prescribe contraceptives, or provide an emergency medication refill. Search "pharmacy" above and check with the pharmacist to see if your condition or medication qualifies.

Not sure if it’s urgent?

Connect with 8-1-1 for personalized assistance. Speak to a navigator who can guide you to reliable health information or connect you with a health professional.

When to go to the emergency department

If you or someone in your care is experiencing a health crisis or has an urgent medical condition, visit the nearest emergency department or call 9-1-1. Visit Island Health's Find Care page for emergency department wait times and explore your care options.
