Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is a kind of counselling that encourages behaviour change by helping a person resolve mixed feelings.

A counsellor helps a person explore his or her mixed feelings about quitting a harmful behaviour, such as a drug or alcohol use problem. The person is encouraged to find personal motivation to change the behaviour.
