What is 8-1-1?

The 8-1-1 service provides non-emergency health information by telephone at no charge to the residents of B.C. 8-1-1 is operated by HealthLink BC, as a part of the Ministry of Health. By dialing 8-1-1, you can speak to a nurse, dietitian, pharmacist or a health services representatives. They will help you get the information you need to manage your health concerns or those of your family.

Printed and Translated Resources

HealthLink BC provides health information by telephone in more than 130 languages upon request. We also provide print resources such as the BC HealthGuide Handbook, which is currently available in French, Chinese and Punjabi.

The HealthLinkBC Files, easy-to-read, downloadable fact sheets, can be accessed on this website or in your community. These are available in English, with most topics translated into French, Chinese, Punjabi, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
