HealthLink BC is the gateway to access non-emergency health information and services in British Columbia. It’s a phone number, and it’s a website; it’s a collection of telephone, web and print resources that put services and health information into the hands and homes of B.C. residents.

Through HealthLink BC programs and services, you can get the information you need to manage your health concerns or those of your family.

Speak to a nurse: Call 8-1-1 to ask a registered nurse your health questions, any hour of the day or night. Nurses are available 24/7 to help you with non-emergency health concerns, to discuss symptoms and procedures and recommend whether you should see a health professional.

Speak to a pharmacist: Call 8-1-1 to ask medication questions. Pharmacists are on call at 8-1-1 when your community pharmacist may be unavailable, every night from 5 pm to 9 am.

For nutrition advice, call 8-1-1 and we will connect you with a dietitian weekdays 9am – 5pm.

We will help you find your way in the health system too. The health navigation team at HealthLink BC will direct you to the services you need, closest to where you live. You'll find this service with its mapping function to help you locate resources and facilities on the web at www.HealthLinkBC.ca.

Translation services are available in over 130 languages on request. For deaf and hearing-impaired assistance (TTY) call 7-1-1.

You will find reliable information on medications and prescription drugs here too through our comprehensive medication library. The integrated search and mapping function of our new Health Navigation Service helps you find the publicly funded health services you need, closest to where you live.

The handbook and other resources are available free of charge only to British Columbia residents and organizations that help to distribute these in their community. For more information, call 8-1-1 or see the order form.

If you are concerned about a possible poisoning or exposure to a toxic substance, call Poison Control toll-free for 24-hour poison information. You can also call 8-1-1 for an easy referral to Poison Control.
